We provide care to asylum seekers to the U.S. who are survivors of torture and other human rights violations.  Many have experienced physical or psychological abuse, female genital mutilation/cutting, or severe gender-based violence. We also provide care to minors and individuals being held in immigration detention centers.


The MSHRP serves over 200 clients each year from over 70 countries across the globe.

Our clients seek asylum in the United States due to fear of persecution for one or more of the following reasons:

  • 93%   Membership in a social group

  • 52%   Political beliefs

  • 12%    Religion

  • 7%      Race

  • <5%    Nationality
